• Country: Canada

• Date of Issue: May 10, 1937 (Two days prior to the Coronation)

• Stamp: 3¢ Carmine (Scott #237 / SG #357)

• Postmark: Windsor, ONT. (Ontario) Circular Date Stamp (CDS) with a "Flag" slogan cancel dated May 12 (the actual Coronation day).

• Addressee: Mr. S. Baldwin Edwards, Glamorgan, Gt. Britain (This confirms it was an "overseas" mailing, which some collectors find more desirable).

• Catalog Ref: Michel #219 / Scott #237.

A 1937 First Day Cover from Canada celebrating the Coronation of King George VI. The 3¢ carmine stamp is tied by a clear Windsor, Ontario, postmark from May 10th. It also features a secondary "flag" machine cancel dated May 12th, the day of the ceremony. The cover is addressed to Barry, Glamorgan (Wales). A nice example of transatlantic postal history from the early George VI era.
