GB Mint Stamp Lot - 2017 Windsor Castle & 2020 Palace of Westminster - MNH Traffic Light Margins (LOT G2710)
Description of the Sets
1. 2017 Windsor Castle Set (Top)
This is part of the 2017 issue commemorating Windsor Castle.
• Details: The three stamps shown feature The Long Walk, The Round Tower, and The Norman Gate.
• Format: These are "1st Class" stamps.
• Notable Feature: The left margin includes a "phos-wheel" (the small rectangle with a dot), which is a technical marking used by the printer to check phosphor application. Collectors of "marginal markings" look for this.
2. 2020 Palace of Westminster Set (Bottom)
This is a complete "se-tenant" block (stamps of different designs joined together) issued in 2020 for the 150th Anniversary of the Palace of Westminster.
• Top Row (£1.68 each): Depicts the interiors—the Commons Chamber, Central Lobby, and Lords Chamber.
• Bottom Row (1st Class): Depicts the exteriors—View from Old Palace Yard, River Thames View, and Elizabeth Tower (Big Ben).
• Notable Feature: The right margin contains "Traffic Lights" (colored circles). These are used by the printer (International Security Printers/Cartor) to ensure all colors are aligned correctly.
